QuestionObama.com at 9/12 March

By admin - Posted on 12 September 2009

After much preparation, QuestionObama.com finally took to the streets for the 9/12 March on Washington.  What an event!

QuestionObama.com handed out a total of 1,500 postcards for folks to mail to President Obama to let him know they attended the march.  The postcards were a great hit and went quickly.  The most common comment after be given the postcard was "You bet, I can't wait to give him a piece of my mind".

A couple thoughts I had during the March.

1.  So much red, white and blue - I have never been to a Moveon.org march, but the video clips of them never show an American Flag.  The American flags at the 9/12 March on Washington were everywhere.  In fact, I have not seen as much red, white, and blue since the 4th of July.

2.  From all over the country - I met people from all over the U.S.  Every major region had participants in attendance.  California, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Florida....

3.  Excellent turnout - I was expecting a strong showing, but I was overwhelmed by the number of people that attended.  I am not very good at estimating crowd size, but the numbers being announced ranged from 200,000 to 1.5 million.  I consider it safe to say that there were several hundred thousand people in attendance.

4.  Media coverage - The biggest shock for me was CNN filming down a street that was not being used for the protest.  That was their coverage.  Absurd.  Fox News was the only news organization that made a noticable presence.

5.  Manners - Everyone was nice, friendly, picked up after themselves, and I saw no arguements or fights.

6.  Opposition - I only saw one pro-Obama supporter....and he was being inteviewed by some news agency.

7.  Ages - People of all age groups attended.  From senior citizens to young children.

All in all, I consider the March a success.  It was refreshing to see the level of support and desire for an America that offers liberty instead of tyranny and freedom instead of control.  QuestionObama.com was proud to be a part of it!
