Common Conservative Saying These Days......

By resetbutton - Posted on 10 September 2009

As I cruise the web and blogosphere and read the comments and postings of conservatives from all over the nation, I have stumbled on a new line that is often repeated.  It goes something like this, "We don't have any chance till 2010."

It is REALLY starting to irritate me.  Maybe I am interupting it wrong?  But there is no reason we have to wait till 2010.  We are not stuck.  We are not screwed.  In fact, now more than ever is the time to take action.  To have a voice.  To make a difference.  Today is the day that we can illustrate the STARK CONTRASTS between the political ideaology currently being acted upon and what is really right and true for America.  Right now is when we debunk the opposition and offer up solutions, thoughts, and ideas that will serve America well.  Right now is when we lay on the pressure, when we show the strength of the American public.

For me, to resign myself into saying "things are out of our control" removes me from the game, puts me on the sidelines.  Now, if ever before, is the time to be in the game.  It we only act when "republicans have a majority in congress" or when "their is a republican president", what does this say about our grit, our determination, and the belief in our values.  Any fool can wait till then.

We have to remember, that no matter who is in power, and who has control over congress, that they work for us.  That they work at our discretion.  And that this goes beyond our ability to vote them in or out of office.  They work for us now and we can impact their decisions today.  How?  Well certaintly by not just waiting till the next election cycle.  Instead, now is the perfect time to join together, to voice our opinion as one voice, and to let them feel the true weight of an American public that is once again engaged in the direction of it's country.  I promise you, as powerful as special interest groups are, when it comes down to it....nothing is more powerful than the American public.

I think those in Washington have forgotten this.....they have forgetten that school teachers, and business leaders, and mothers and fathers can be more powerful and more persuasive than any lobbying group.  It is high time that we remind them of the fundamentals of America: that it is we the people (the real people) that hold the power and choose the direction of this country.

The time is now.  So instead of posting comments of resignation.....get active, build a coalition, raise your voice loud and clear.  We will be heard.  And we will have an impact, TODAY.

Climbing down from my soapbox now :)
